Research and Community Service Division Holds a Workshop
Ethiopian Civil Service University Research and Community Service Division held its fourth Stakeholders Consultation Workshop on October 12, 2018 at Hidasse Hall. On the workshop different stakeholders from Federal, Regional and Cities Administrations participated.
In his opening speech, Dr. Alemayehu Debebe, Vice President for Research and Community Service, on behalf of the ECSU Community welcomed the participants and said that Ethiopian Civil Service University has worked its level best in building the capacity of the Public Service through Specialized Education, Training, Consultancy, Research and Community Services for the last twenty three years. Based on the results of the previous three consultation workshops with stakeholders, many research thematic areas have been identified and researched by the two centers; Center for Ethics and Integrity and Center for Public Sector Reform Studies and the findings of the research have been distributed to stakeholders and their institutions. With a same trend but in more concerns and commitment, from this consultation workshop we expect your ideas and suggestions for our future research activities, Dr. Alemayehu addede.
Dr. Lemma Gudissa, Vice President for Academic Affair on his part said that provision of Specialized Education for the Public Sectors makes ECSU special than other Public Educational Institutions. It also focuses on using Applied Research Approach rather than Fundamental Research Approach. He also explained the academic programs and research activities conducted by the three Colleges in ECSU.
On the workshop a brief explanation on the establishment and achievements of the two Centers and two Directorates; Center for Ethics and Integrity, Center for Public Sector Reform Studies ,Community Services Directorate and University – Industry Linkage Directorate were presented to the participants.
Participants on their part expressed their appreciations for the Ethiopian Civil Service University for its all rounded activities to build the capacity of the public sectors and preparing such kind of consultation workshop with stakeholders to identify thematic areas to conduct problem solving researches. They also discussed on their needs regarding researches and community services.
