Sudanese Civil Service Commission Delegates visit ECSU
The Sudanese National Civil Service Commission delegation led by Prof. Ahmed Ibrahim Abasin, Member of the National Civil Service Commission and Professor at Sudan University of Science and Technology made a working visit to Ethiopian Civil Service University from May 10 to 13, 2011.
The delegates came to Ethiopia in their effort to establish Civil Service University at Khartoum . On the first day of their visit, the group conducted discussions with the University President, the two Vice Presidents, Institute Directors and Section Heads at Development Learning Center. Honorable Dr Hailemichael Aberra, President of the University welcomed the delegates and made a power point presentation on the history, objectives, programs, activities and achievements of the University in the past sixteen years.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Ahmed Ibrahim Abasin said “We are really very happy to visit Ethiopia and ECSU as well. Ethiopia is in fact the oldest civilized country in Africa and in the world. The early Muslims who migrated to Ethiopia were welcomed with great hospitality by the then Axumite king.”
He described the visit as a transition for them. “We are pleased to witness that everything is systematic in this country. People are working in law and order” he added. Further he said
” We are looking for the systematic approach that ECSU is practicing. We have four training centers but they are not enough & institute like yours is really needed in Sudan.”
The delegates held discussions with Institutes and Center’s Directors, Department and Section Heads on a variety of issues.Finally, the delegates shared their ideas and feelings with External and Public Relations Department about their visit and their future plan concerning partnership.
Asked whether their mission was a success, Prof. Ahmed, leader of the delegation answered, “ there are many things in common between Ethiopia and Sudan; the culture, habits, hospitality are very similar. We are now in touch with ECSU to study the structures, programs and activities and our visit is very fruitful in this respect. Most of the programs are relevant to our situation. ”
Regarding the country’s growth Prof. Ahmed said“a lot of growth and developmental activities took place in the country. The road infrastructure and construction developments are sign of economic, social and political development in the country. The people are disciplined and know their responsibility and work accordingly."
Concerning their future plan in relation to partnership with ECSU Prof. Ahmed said
“We are going to make a report on what we actually observe and we will discuss with our colleagues. We believe that we can easily establish a similar Institution in Sudan."
The group appreciated the facilities available in the University and thanked the President, the Staff, and the University community.
