Training on Financial Management of World Bank Financed Projects
Training aimed at aligning the financial management system of the World Bank with that of the government of Ethiopia was launched on Monday, November 18, 2013 at ECSU. Opening the training, Country Director of the World Bank for Ethiopia, Guang Z. Chen, said that
" the training would raise the awareness of the participants on the financial management systems, rules and regulations of both the World Bank and the government, so that civil servants who work in projects financed by the World Bank are able to align them without neglecting either of them."
Director of the ECSU Center for Training and Consultancy, Fitsum Kebere, told the ECSU External and Public Relations Department that the participants are public financial managers, accountants and auditors who work in or with projects that are financed by the World Bank. And the training is expected to make them well aware of the financial management systems of both the government and the World Bank and also update and enhance their knowledge and skill.
According to Fitsum, the ten day training is the first training of a series of similar other trainings. She said, in this training, 60 participants drawn from Addis Ababa and thirty other trainees drawn from Bahir Dar are participating. The trainees from Bahir Dar are participating from their home town through Woreda Net videoconferencing. ECSU plans to use the Woreda Net videoconferencing technology in the coming months to provide similar trainings to trainees from different regional states. Fitsum said, in addition to providing the venue and the facilities, two trainers from the ECSU Institute of Tax and Customs Administration are providing the training. Guest Speakers from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development are also participating in delivering the training, and one World Bank trainer is also expected to join the training next week.
