Transformational Leadership and Coaching Training Workshop Held
A Training Workshop aimed at enhancing the leadership skills of the public and private universities presidents kicks off on Monday May 30, 2016, here at Ethiopian Civil Service University Development Learning Center.
The Training workshop is organized by the Office of the Consortium of Ethiopian Public Universities and Ethiopian Civil Service University. In his welcoming speech, Professor Fekadu Beyene, President of Ethiopian Civil Service University and the Consortium of Ethiopian Public Universities CEPU wishes a good time at ECSU and Addis Ababa, with its friendly people and multi-cultural cuisine.
According to Professor Fekadu, the training workshop is designed to enhance the development of leadership within the HEI of our country, both public and private. Professor Fekadu added, " the training workshop provides an invaluable opportunity for networking and fruitful discussions among Higher Education Institutions leaders, and thus expected to enhance the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of HISs." Professor Fekadu also said Ethiopian Civil Service University is striving to be a center of excellence in public sector capacity building not only in serving Ethiopian but also the horn of Africa and beyond and expressed his hope that participants be part of the process. He finally wishes the participants to have a fruitful and productive training and experience sharing session.
In key note speech, Dr. Kaba Urgessa, State Minister of Ministry of Education thanked the Office of the Consortium of Ethiopian Public Universities and Ethiopian Civil Service University for organizing such kinds of events. Dr. Kaba appreciated the Office of the Consortium of Ethiopian Public Universities for its initiative to participate the private universities in the workshop as both the public and private universities should produce competent citizens who can build the nation. He also said it is important to enhance the leadership capacity of university presidents so that they will be efficient and effective to execute their activities. The training is hoped to build your capacity and through the knowledge and skill you acquire from the training you are expected to fight rent seeking attitudes, corruption and maladministration in your respective universities said Dr. Kaba. Dr. Kaba stressed on the importance of establishing training centers in the seven clusters.
He finally urged the participants to attend the training workshop seriously and share what they have got here to their colleagues in their respective universities.
The training will continue for the next five days. Center for Policy, Leadership and Human Resource Training and Consultancy organized the training program and Dr. Waqgari Negari and Dr. Worku Negash will facilitate the training workshop.
