The widow of Dr. Salah Yousif donated books to ECSU Library
The widow of Dr. Salah Yousif donated over fifty books to ECSU. Dr. Salah, an American who is Ethiopian by birth, was teaching at the ECSU. Dr. Salah Yousif, a retired professor of economics from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, came to Ethiopia two years ago to serve the people of his birth country.
While receiving the donation from the professor’s wife, Awal Ali Zaki, who is Sudanese by birth, President of ECSU, Dr. Hailemichael Aberra, thanked her for donating the important and useful books to the university library. The President added.
“We loved and respected your husband. We will remember him,”
Amal Ali Zaki, the widow of Prof. Salah Yousif, on her part said,
“Dr. Yousif loved to finish his last retirement years in Ethiopia. He loved education. I wish the books would continue to educate students and contribute for the better future of the country."
My husband donated his time and his books. He donated everything for the sake of education. He was also a soccer player and coach. He loved soccer but he gave priority to education. For him education came first. He said education is a key to success. He stood up for nothing but education.
Dr. Salah Yousif, who died accidentally at the age of 68 last month, was survived by his wife and two children. Some department heads of ECSU, including Head of the ECSU Library, Sebele Gebeyes, were in attendance while the books were handed over to the university president.
