ECSU and MoFA, FDRE, Agree to Improve Foreign Service Training Program
State Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), H. E. AtoYonas Yosef and President of Ethiopian Civil Service University, H.E. Professor Fekadu Beyene discussed on October 28,2016 ways to improve the quality of foreign service training program which is hosted by the Ethiopian Civil Service University. The discussion, which was held in the University`s Senate Hall, mainly focused on how to improve the training program to make it fit for the purpose of producing competent diplomats.
His Excellency AtoYonas on the occasion thanked the University for its continued and unreserved assistance to make the program a success. He said the diplomats who are participating in the training program have so far exhibited impressive competence. “We give credit to the University and appreciate the leadership of Prof. Fekadu Beyene, its President, though he joined the University only recently,” said H.E. AtoYonas .
Professor Fekadu Beyene on his part said the pre-service training program curriculum has been endorsed by the university senate, which is a milestone for the sustainability of the program. He said that the University is also working to establish an international language center. “We can work together to avoid duplication of efforts and wastage of resources,” he said. He also promised to give assistances in the Ministry`s efforts to facilitate the graduation of the incumbent trainees within a month’s time.
Both parties agreed to improve the service delivery by establishing a joint steering committee which can work on details regarding areas that need improvements.
