Public Lecture Held
School of Diplomacy and International Relations Conducted a public Lecture titled Ethiopia`s Foreign Policy and National Security on December 28, 2015 at the University`s main campus lecture theatre. The Guset speaker was Ambassador Abdulaziz Ahmed Adem, senior researcher at Public Research and Analysis Department African Divission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Abdulaziz in the occasion discussed on the objectives, challenges and prospects of the Ethiopian Foreign Policy. He said Insuring development, peace and stability in the country, bringing peace and stability in the horn of Africa, widening the horizon of Ethiopia`s diplomatic ties with neighboring countries, fighting terrorism are some of the principles of the policy which bore fruits with regards to countries in the Horn of Africa.
He also mentioned being in the region as it is war pron,luck of stability in Somalia, current conflict in South Sudan and the no war no peace situation with Eritrea as challenges. Ambassador Abdulaziz urged the students to play their role in the development of the country.
Ambassador Abdulaziz reacted to the questions and suggestions raised by the participants. Dr. Berhanu Beyene, Director for Horn Institute of Governance and Development finally thanked Ambassador Abdulaziz for his good presentation of the issue. Ato Befekadu Daba, instructor at School of Diplomacy and International Relations moderated the session.
