Ethiopian Civil Service University staff and students visited Ethiopian Grand Renaissance Dam on June 12, 2014. More than one hundred eighty Academic and Administrative staff and students of the University participated in the visit. The University community in the occasion reiterated to support the GERD till it becomes operational.

Project manager of the GERD, Engineer Simegnew Bekele said in the occasion, "on behalf of the FDRE, I would like to welcome you to your project, Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. We are happy to have you here, you are the capacity to this nation"

"I have been in this field for long time. I saw many nationalities; I can assure you that you can present yourself as proud Ethiopian at any stage in any manner in a scientific conferences. " Professor Melese Asfaw, Director of School of Graduate Studies said this in a PhD dissertation defense program held on Friday, June 28, 2014 where five PhD candidates successfully defended their dissertation.

The candidates in the occasion have presented the main arguments of their dissertation, followed by a question and discussion session.
